NEW YORK— CanAm Enterprises is pleased to announce that Peter Calabrese will be a featured speaker at the 2021 Virtual EB-5 & Uglobal Immigration Expo Global RCBI Markets & South America to be held May 6-7. Mr. Calabrese serves as Managing Director and Chief Compliance Officer for CanAm Investor Services, a FINRA-registered broker-dealer affiliated with CanAm Enterprises. He is one of several top industry leaders that will be discussing trends and activity in the EB-5 industry in the post-Covid-19 environment.
Mr. Calabrese is scheduled to present on Friday, May 7th from 12:00-12:40 pm on the topic “Second Chances: Breaking down the process and legal requirements of EB-5 capital redeployment.” The discussion will provide an overview of EB-5 capital redeployment, touching on key points such as what is redeployment and why it exists; how redeployment works within the immigration process; and what securities issues need to be considered.
The structure of EB-5 investments has long focused on the need to price EB-5 capital below traditional bank financing to incentivize developers and other job creating businesses to accommodate the additional oversight and reporting requirements. Although EB-5 investors are willing to accept lower returns on their capital during the 5-7 years of the initial EB-5 investment, few want to do so for another 5-10 years during redeployment. “Redeployment investments can be structured in ways that provide investors with market rate returns,” said Calabrese. “At CanAm, our redeployment strategy follows our same EB-5 approach that includes working with high-quality sponsors and applying disciplined and conservative underwriting standards to identify projects that offer attractive risk-adjusted returns.”
CanAm has built a solid reputation for delivering results for its EB-5 investor clients over the past three decades, as well as assisting investors redeploy their EB-funds in new projects. Per the Dec. 31, 2020 audit, CanAm has repaid a total of $1.85 billion in EB-5 capital to 3,700 investors across all six of its Regional Centers. Of which, approximately 650 investors have consented to redeploy their EB-5 funds in new projects with total amount of $325 million.
